Information about your Grade Point Average (GPA) (2024)

Grading systems can differ from university to university. Your Grade Point Average (GPA) is a number that represents the average of your grades achieved throughout a single degree. UNE calculates GPAs on a 7-point scale, with 7 being the highest grade possible.

How do I find my GPA?

To calculate your GPA, you add the Grade point of all your units completed in the one degree and divide by the number of units you completed in that same degree. The number of units you have attempted must include both passed and failed results.

Advanced Standing, Withdrawing Without Academic Penalty (a UNE ‘W’ result code), and withdrawing from a unit early (a UNE ‘WE’ result code), does not affect your GPA.

The maximum GPA any student can achieve is a 7.

For example, if a student has completed 4 units in one degree, with two passes (4), one fail (0), and one distinction (6), their GPA would be: 4 + 4 + 0 + 6 = 14. They would then divide the 14 by the 4 units they studied, which would give the student a 3.5 GPA.

UNE's 7-point grading scale is as follows:
