FREEDOM!!!

This is a great movie. it has lot's of great role-models and positive messages, such as FREEDOM!!!I love Scotland, and Scottish history so I really liked this movie, because it depicted truthfully (if not completely accurately) the cruelty the Scots endured at the hands of the British, and their struggle to take back their FREEDOM!!!I also love that there is Gaelic in this film. Me and my brother are learning to speak Gaelic so I found it interesting. There is a LOT of violence in this film. Think swords, arrows, and torture machines. I didn't watch all of the battles and none of Braveheart getting tortured. Also it is extremely sad when his wife Mariam is brutally murdered. It is really disturbing, and kids might not want to watch it.There is also lots of betrayal, which could bother people. It bothered me.There are a couple of inappropriate scenes that were entirely unnecessary, and could have been left out completely. However, they are there, so just cover your eyes or skip ahead. It is not in the film a lot, so just pass those parts and keep watching. My favorite part is when the English king sends down the Irish part of his army to fight the Scotts first because "The Irish aren't worth anything." And it looks like the Irish and the Scottish are going to fight, but then they stop, and the Irish go onto the Scottish side. The English king has the decency to look shocked and outraged.I loved it, because the Irish were helping to win back their and the Scots' FREEDOM!!!I am part Scottish and Irish, so I loved that scene. The movie at the end is incredibly sad, yet incredibly uplifting and exhilarating in a strange way. I think it is because it is always uplifting to see someone fight for their FREEDOM!!!

good movie

i myself am young (under 17) i watched the first hour and a half of this movie with my mom but my dad made us turn it off. basically it’s a good movie but there is SO MUCH VIOLENCE. you’ll see impaled people, slit throats (literally!) and an attempted rape scene.. and there is just BLOODY, VERY DETAILED FIGHTS ALL AROUND. it’s all true though.. it’s 1300s scottish-english history. i think everyone interested in history should watch this once in their life. i would say this is appropriate for mature 14 year olds. :)

Why is it rated R?

I liked the film but it lost me a few times with the plot. I have no idea why it’s rated R here!! MA is 100% valid though. It’s quite violent and graphically so. People are killed violently, beheaded, impaled, burnt alive etc. Lots of blood. In one scene of war the horses get impaled on spikes and this was really upsetting for me. Brief but clear nudity. No sex at all, only implied. Women’s breasts are seen clearly for several seconds and distant male nudity.Bit of a confusing plot I must say. Okay for 14+ ages.

Mel Gibson's Scottish Epic has big and amazing fight scenes but a very small climax

Braveheart(1995)AnonymousWilliam Wallace is a Scottish rebel who leads an uprising against the cruel English ruler Edward the Longshanks, who wishes to inherit the crown of Scotland for himself. When he was a young boy, William Wallace's father and brother, along with many others, lost their lives trying to free Scotland. Once he loses another of his loved ones, William Wallace begins his long quest to make Scotland free once and for all, along with the assistance of Robert the Bruce.

An Excellent Film

This movie was absolutely incredible. As a Scot myself, the movie really made me feel moved and emotional. There are a few things to mention though, such as a short scene which has nudity, some swearing, violence including throats being slit, multiple stabbings, heads being smashed with hammers, two beheadings (One is not shown on camera), torture, but they are only briefly shown on screen at a time, however they happen very often. Overall this movie is incredible and I would highly recommend it.

An exceptional powerful movie about the importance of freedom.

To start this off, this movie is a very powerful and emotionally wrenching film about William Wallace, a Scottish warrior who fought against the oppressive English. Even though Mel Gibson's character, William Wallace, plays a heroic and great role model, this film is regardless very inappropriate for little kids. I honestly think I was too young to see it (I was 11). I think at least 16 years of age is suitable to watch this. It is full of blood and gore, including stabbings, torture, throat-slittings, and much more. This is brief female nudity, a sexual situation, and a rape scene. Also, there are two F-words, uses of s**t, and some more mild language.Overall, this is a powerful film, with wonderful messages of bravery, kindness, and love of freedom. The patriotism of William Wallace also applies to what is needed in the United States of America and in any country. For anybody 16 and up who has a tough stomach to blood and gore, I highly recommend this. God bless all who read this and bye!
