Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh is a comedy about a family that has immigrated from India in hopes of starting a new life in the US. The culture shock the family experiences upon moving to a working-class neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA is the basis of many of the jokes. Language includes "damn," "s--t," "d--k," and "hell." Racist slurs made by White Americans include assuming someone is a terrorist because they are "brown," and people yelling "dot head" to a family member. Sexy stuff includes a boy on a school bus with a coat over his lap getting a hand job from a girl. Teens smoke cigarettes and talk about dealing Oxy.

Lewd comments about sex for comic effect. Mr. Pradeep leases a warehouse that used to produce sex toys. The sex toys are blurred-out of the shots. A girl appears to rub a boy's penis under a coat on a school bus.

Diverse Representations
a lot
The Pradeep family are from India; everyone around them is White. Women are strong; Mrs. Pradeep is a surgeon. Some stereotypes are in play, like the overprotective parent. Creator and showrunner Vijal Patel has based the series on elements of his own life.

Degrading the country to gain more views on Netflix."
"I'm tired of the stereotypes perpetuated by people who lack knowledge about India and make money by spreading degrading content. India is the 5th largest GDP in the world, and I believe the reality is that the so-called NRI Indian director is the one who is actually indulging fake negativity the director is the one ‘eating garbage’ and surviving by feeding off these outdated stereotypes series to the world,, shame on you mate some guts/balls to show the reality of india or find a decent job mate..

What's the Story?
In THE PRADEEPS OF PITTSBURGH, the Pradeeps are sitting in an interrogation room in the U.S.A., two years after they've come to Pittsburgh from their home country of India. The detectives are interviewing them about their arrival in the States and about their neighbors. Every Pradeep family member has differing recollections and points of view about their circumstances. Will the detectives get the answers they're seeking? Will the Pradeeps be sent back to India?
Is It Any Good?
An astute, and sometimes off-color portrait of a highly educated Indian family thrust into a blue-collar suburb, this show traffics in comic stereotypes, to varied success. In The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, the surgeon matriarch is trying to keep her teen daughter away from the teen boy next door; while, to her chagrin, her youngest son has sworn to become a garbage truck driver. The Pradeeps are aware of the challenges of their adopted country, but they stick together. Language, brief lewd situations, and smoking make this show a stretch for younger teens, but older teens and adults might catch some laughs in this grungy coming-to-America show.
